The effect of alloying addition on the structure formation of novel Al-Mg-Si and Al-Mg-Ge casting alloys were investigated by light microscopy, differentioal scanning calorimetry, transmission electron microscopy. It was established the the Mn addition results in formation of secondary precipitates during alloys homogenisation. They nucleated on the surface of Mg₂Si or Mg₂Ge lamellas.
